One of my best artworks
My art work was inspired by Chuck Close and I am doing my art critique on this art peice because I feel like this was very much time consuming. I also didnt go by the rules in this art project I was supposed to put pattern designs but I did square by square. Chuck Close does this method where he makes desgins into a face as most of his artworks consits of faces. Don't t get me wrong the artwork looks amazing but it was really time consmuing. Also something I wish I could change is at the bottom where I tried to do signs. My artwork was inspired by Chuck Close as he does grid pattern designs to show a full picture.
This artwork was done by Chuck Close who is the person I got the grid idea from. His artwork was very different from mine as his is more so non realistic and mine was realistic. There is way he does his artwork as he has a disability which makes him do a lot of face grids. He has prosopagnosia further know as face blindness he is unable to recognize faces. I believe that Chuck Close does the grid design because it helps him better to determine or regonize the face of a person. Some differences in my grid from his is that I didnt do all the designs on my project. I did grid by grid putting the correct color in that square somtimes I would improvise to blend the colors. Thats a similarilty we do have in common in our art works we both blend colors and show detail points in the artwork. Another difference I noticed is the coler schyme as Chuck useses brown, black, and white while I used alot of different colors that where bright and dark. I think Chuck Close would have liked my project a lot knowing that I went grid by grid. I really enjoyed the grid method in Art and really hope I can do it again.
Mash Up Artist Statement
I call this art piece a Snagle which is a snack and eagle mash up together. It looks like a slug with wings an has a snake head. What mostly stands out is the snake head and the wings as the snake head is green with black for the eyes and mouth. The main source of the wings are silver and on the tips it gold this idea was given to me due of the lack of color. The main source of my project is made out of clay the snake head and the eagle body is made out of clay. The wings are made out of wire and paper as I hot glue the wire to the paper. The tools I use were a pencil to make the eyes pop out better ,also use the pencil to make the arch in the back of the eagle. It took a very long process to do this. My artwork was inspired by my favorite bird (eagle) and snakes as they slithery around. I tried to show my weird side and what I think will look an dangerous. My goals as an artist was making cool creative pieces of art out of anything this piece helped me with that goal as I used clay, paper, and wire. I learned that clay pieces have to be exact perfect for them to work and not fall in pieces. I thought this piece would come out better as this is not what I imagine, this was a very frustrating task for me at times I felt like giving up on the artwork. This piece influence me to do better and to never give up on artwork.
